Kvarken Ports is a joint port company for Umeå and Vaasa. The co-operation contributes to strengthening the market position of the ports in the growing trade between the Baltic Sea countries. Kvarken Ports aims to operate high-quality ports with a focus on customers’ needs and climate-smart solutions.
To meet future demands for transport, Umeå and Vaasa are building up a completely new port and transport concept. Kvarken Ports plays an important role in strengthening both the east-west and north-south transport routes that meet in the Kvarken region.
The extended collaboration between Umeå and Vaasa means that Kvarken Ports can continuously streamline and strengthen business development, which in turn leads to increased volumes of goods and number of passengers across Kvarken. Kvarken Ports offers a wide range of services, tailored to the needs of both business and private travellers. The collaboration also provides economies of scale within infrastructure, marketing and administration as well as opportunities for increased competitiveness.
Kvarken Ports is a limited company jointly owned by the City of Vaasa and Umeå Hamn AB. There are some 30 plus employees working for the company.
